In addition to our general medical services, we offer a wide range of health promotion clinics and services.
Antenatal and Maternity Care
We offer a comprehensive service designed to take you right through your pregnancy and childbirth. We hold baby clinics each week for mothers and young babies. Further details can be obtained from your doctor.
Child Immunisation and Development Clinic
This covers all aspects of your child's health and development. For information, speak to the health visitor or your doctor.
Chronic disease management
We hold clinics and provide monitoring and review for patients with chronic illnesses. Doctors and nurses involved in these services have specialist training and experience. Chronic disease management and specialist services are provided for:
- Diabetes
- Asthma
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Coronary heart disease
- Hypertension
- Cancer care

Family Planning and Contraceptive Clinic
A range of family planning services are provided. Family planning advice as well as emergency contraception is also available within ordinary surgeries.
On Wednesday afternoons we have a womens' clinic catering for family planning, smears, etc, with a Practice Nurse and woman doctor. Between 4.0pm and 5.30pm there is a walk-in family planning clinic; young patients are particularly welcome.
Minor surgery
Some minor surgical procedures can be done at the Practice. If you are offered minor surgery, your doctor will explain what the procedure involves and any necessary aftercare.
Joint injection service
We can provide injection treatment where appropriate for patients with injured or painful joints.
Flu injections
We offer flu injections each autumn. Invitations are sent to patients at risk (for example, the elderly and those with respiratory problems). Other patients may request flu injections, although there may be a small charge. Please enquire at Reception.
Health Checks
We provide general check-ups and advice on staying healthy and the avoidance of coronary heart disease. Services include blood pressure, urine and cholesterol checks and advice on diet, alcohol and smoking. Information is available from the nurses or from reception.
Smoking cessation
We hold special sessions to provide advice and help for those who wish to give up smoking. For further information, please ask your doctor or practice nurse, or ask the Receptionist to make an appointment with the specialist nurse.
Non NHS Services
Medicals in connection with life assurance, HGV driving, sub-aqua etc can be arranged through the Receptionist. We also provide a range of other non-NHS services such as private doctors' notes, letters and forms. There is normally a charge for these services, details of which can be obtained from reception at the time of booking. Our fees list is also available on our web site.
Travel Clinic
We have been appointed as a Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre for Darlington; we are also able to provide advice and the necessary vaccinations for travel to most parts of the world. Please enquire about your vaccinations well in advance of your travel date, as some involve a series of injections over a period of time. Appointments can be made through the Receptionist.
Womens Health
We provide advice and health checks for women, including cervical smears, breast examination and advice on the menopause. These can be booked through your doctor.
Self referral for physiotherapy
There is now a service available for self referral to the Physiotherapy Department at the Darlington Memorial Hospital. Please ask the Receptionist for the necessary form.
Other facilities at the Practice
We have a number of tenants who provide healthcare services on a private basis to our patients and those of other Practices. These include:

- Physiotherapy
- Chiropractic
- Clinical psycology

Chaperone
From time to time, it may be necessary as part of your consultation or treatment for the Doctor or Nurse to carry out an examination and what will ahppen, and will seek your consent before proceeding. You may, if you wish, have a friend of relative present at the time, or alternatively may ask for another member of Practice staff to be present. Similarly, the Doctor or Nurse may also ask for another staff member to be present.
Interpreter Service
If you have difficulty in speaking or understanding English, you may bring an interpreter (for example, a friend or relation) to assist you. Alternatively, we can arrange for an interpreter to be present when you attend the surgery. If you wish to be accompanied by an interpreter, or wish us to arrange one, please inform the Receptionist at the time of booking the appointment.
