Practice Staff

Practice Staff

Blacketts Medical Practice have five GP partners and three salaried GPs on staff. There are senior nurses who deal with chronic disease management and three treatment room nurses specialising in wound care, ear syringing and health care. Two Health Care Assistants compliment the nursing team.

Dr. Andrew F Michie

MB BS (St Mary's London 1979),
Dip Pall. Med

Dr Michie is the senior partner at Blacketts Medical Practice. Dr Michie works 4 days per week, his special interests include Palliative Medicine, Dermatology and Paediatrics. Dr Michie also runs our Skin and Laser Clinic, Minor Surgery clinics and the Vasectomy service.

Dr. Andrew J Baines

MB BS (Royal Free, London 1992) MRCGP

Dr Baines is a partner at Blacketts Medical Practice, he works 4 days per week and has special interest in Diabetes. Dr Baines also runs the Vasectomy service alongside Dr Michie.

Dr. Gomathy Umashankar

MB BS, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFFP

Dr Umashankar is one of 5 partners at Blacketts Medical Practice; she works 4 days per week and covers Saturday morning extended hours clinics. Dr Umashankar has a special interest in Women's Health and Family Planning.

Dr. Timothy Pearson

MB ChB (Sheffield 1990)

Dr Pearson is one of the partners at Blacketts Medical Practice; he works 4 days per week. Dr Pearson runs a joint injection clinic and minor surgery clinic here at Blacketts.

Dr. Elizabeth Hardy

MB BS (St George's, University of London 2004), MRCGP, DCH

Dr Hardy is one of the partners at Blacketts Medical Practice; she works each morning and also Monday afternoons. Dr Hardy has a special interest in Mental Health and Elderly Care.

Disclosure of Earnings
NHS England require that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is publicised and the required disclosure is shown below. However, it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice and should not be used for any judgement about GP earning, nor to make any comparisons with other practices. The average earnings for GPs working in this Practice in the financial year ending in 2017/18 was £65,895 before tax and NI. This is for 4 full time GPs and 4 part time GPs, who worked in the practice for more than 6 months.

Dr. Lara Campbell

MBCHB, MBCGP

Dr Campbell has been GP at Blacketts since January 2014; she works Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Dr Campbell holds appointments for 6 week baby check and immunisation.

Dr. Gaynor Riley

MB CHB, DRCOG

Dr Riley works most days at Blacketts (not Thursdays). She has a special interest in Depression/Mental Health.

Dr. Adebola Adisa

MB CHB, DRCOG

Dr Adisa is the newest GP to join our team, she works each Monday and Tuesday.

Sarah Naisbitt

Nurse Manager

Sarah is our nursing team manager. She has worked at Blacketts since 2003. Sarah is qualified in all chronic disease management but specialises in asthma and copd. She also runs our weekly family planning clinic and has an interest in all aspect of womens' health. Sarah manages our nursing team and has recently achieved both prescribing and physical assessment skills qualifications.

Kelly Henley

Diabetic Nurse Specialist

Kelly has worked at Blacketts since 2010. She is our cardio vascular nurse lead and also specialises in diabetes management. Kelly also runs a weekly childhood immunisation clinic.

Carol Henderson

Practice Nurse

Carol has worked as a practice nurse at Blacketts since 2004. She is our cervical cytology lead and has an interest in women's health. Carol covers the family planning clinic in Sarah's absence. Carol specialises and has qualifications in all aspects of wound management.

Rachel Greaves

Practice Nurse

Rachel is our newest practice nurse having qualified in 2017. She has, however, worked at Blacketts for many years as both a medical records clerk and then as a health care assistant. Since qualifying as a nurse, Rachel has gone onto achieve qualifications in wound management, ear irrigation and most recently an asthma diploma. Rachel also assists in the weekly vasectomy clinic.

Sara Wilson

Health Care Assistant

Sara has been a health care assistant at Blacketts since 2014. She started work here as a medical record clerk and Patient Care Advisor initially in 2012. She is currently attending university one day a week studying for an Assistant Practitioner qualification. Sara's role includes phlebotomy, NHS checks and she also assists in the family planning clinic and in both mental health and learning disability clinics. Sara has recently joined BLISS (our lifestyle course for patients) and is enjoying this new challenge.

Jayne Turner

Practice Manager

Jayne Turner has overall responsibility for the administration, reception and smooth running of the entire Practice. She is available to answer any questions and deal with any complaints you may have about the Practice and the service provided.
