Appointment Types

We try to provide as many services as possible, if you require something other than a routine appointment please check the information below:

Routine Appointments

Standard GP appointments can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance for new health issues, review of existing health problems and long term condition management.

Doctors can authorise booking of appointments further in advance in order to schedule planned reviews. If this is needed the doctor will book the appointment or one of our reception staff will contact you.

We also have a text message confirmation and reminder service for these appointments. Please keep the surgery updated with your current mobile number and consent.

Appointments for routine clinics can be booked in advance using our online services.

If you are struggling to make a routine appointment then please let our reception staff know on (01325) 380 640. We may ask one of our clinicians to review your request and they can either arrange to speak to you on the telephone or find you a suitable appointment. The more information that you provide as to the nature of your problem, the more rapidly we can help to find the quickest and best solution for you.

Urgent Appointments

For patients suffering acute problems, our telephone lines open at 8am to allow for requests of being seen by a GP within 24 hours.

Slots with GP’s are set aside, both morning and afternoon, to allow patients to be seen the same day, by one of our GP’s or GP Registrars.

There are 2 different slot types daily; 5 minute slots where GP’s will assess and treat colds, coughs and possible infections eg. ear ache, chest infection, eye problem, and 10 minute slots for more complex urgent ailments.

In order to select the correct appointment slot, the Patient Care Advisor will ask for brief details of the complaint.

Home Visits

This facility is for patients who are too ill or infirm to visit the Practice. Requests for visits are put through to the triaging clinician, who will decide the best course of action. As there are good disabled parking facilities and we can provide wheelchairs on request, we would prefer patients to visit the Practice if at all possible so that they have access to all our equipment and facilities, ensuring the best medical care.

Contraception and sexual health

We provide a walk-in family planning clinic on a Wednesday between 3:30pm – 6:00pm. Alternatively appointments are available at The CASH clinic at Dr Piper House.

Practice Closures

Once a month the Darlington practices close for training. This protected learning time allows practice staff to refresh skills such as Lifesaving (CPR) and ensure staff are up to date with mandatory training. The urgent care out of hours service will be available to provide emergency treatment and advice during these closures. Contact them on telephone number 111.

Out of Hours

In case of emergency when we are closed, please telephone 111 – the Out of Hours service.
